Today's books buy ArticleComic Books - The Batman Beginnings
In this article we're going to take a brief look at one of the longest running and popular comic books of our time, Batman.
Batman was first introduced to the world of comics in May of 1939. But he wasn't featured in his own comic book. He was a part of Detective Comics issue number 27. The thing about Batman that was unique for his time and even today is that he was a super hero with no super powers. He couldn't fly like Superman or run fast like Flash, nor was he strong like The Hulk. He was just a flesh and blood crime fighter out to rid the world of the kind of vermin responsible for the death of his parents.
Also, unlike many other super heroes, Batman was a very dark character who has a lot of his own personal demons that he had to keep in check. Every day was a battle to keep his anger from getting the best of him. Many times he came close to crossing the line between good and evil.
Batman lives in Gothem City in the guise of playboy millionaire Bruce Wayne. Only his trusty butler Alfred knew of his secret identity as Batman. He decided to fashion his crime fighting outfit after that of a bat because of the dark nature of crime itself. He wanted to be seen in something that would strike fear in the hearts of criminals, not make them laugh.
The first detailed origin of Batman was not told until the June issue of Detective Comics, number 47. His actual origin, as was true with so many comic book heroes, changed many times as the years went on. However, the basic facts of his character have remained unchanged through the years.
Batman had a number of gadgets that have become very familiar and popular over the years such as his utility belt which could pretty much do everything but make scrambled eggs. In addition to this he had the ever popular batmobile, bat copter, bat cycle, bat plane and bat boat. All these vehicles in some manner, shape or form resembled the appearance of a bat.
It wasn't until April 1940 that Batman would get his trusty sidekick, Robin, the Boy Wonder. In many ways, especially with teenagers, Robin was an even more popular character than Batman because he was somebody who kids could relate to.
Over the years Batman battled a number of diabolical criminals. Some of the more famous ones were The Riddler, The Joker, The Penguin, Catwoman and Mr. Freeze. Each issue of the comic, especially in the early years would usually feature a different foe for Batman to do battle with. The only twist to this was the occasional time that Catwoman would try to seduce Batman with her womanly charms. While often tempted, Batman never gave in to her unless it was to gain some important information from her.
Over the years Batman has evolved into a hit TV show and a number of movies that were closer to the darker side of Batman than the Adam West character. But no matter what the portrayal or medium, Batman has, and will always be one of our most beloved super heroes.

The Western Digital 2.0 GB external hard drive is great. It backs up my computer automatically every night with tons or room to spare to download music, movies, etc. I highly recommend this hard drive.
Customer Review: Ticking Time Bomb
I received this drive for Christmas. It lasted two and a half months of light use before failing inexplicably. Blinking front indicator light, but the drive won't spin up and no computer I connect it to will recognize it. The day before it worked fine. Tech support was unhelpful, and I'm loathe to exchange the unit for another from the manufacturer. The drive is sealed inside the plastic shell, making removal difficult. I would not use this drive for anything valuable, it's cheaply made and untrustworthy.

The Best baby memory book Articles on WineAudio Books - 10 Frequently Asked Questions - Part 1
My friends and colleagues consider me as the audio books expert. They tell their friends that they know an audio books expert and the outcome is that I keep getting dozens of audio books questions and inquiries each day. I have decided to gather the most frequently asked questions for everyone's benefit.
Here are the top five frequently asked questions about audio books (and the answers of course):
1. Are there free audio books? How do I get them?
In one word: NO. In two words: Not exactly. Depends of the type of audio book you are looking for (downloadable audio book are cheaper than the other types), and the audio book title (new audio books cost more), you could find low cost audio books.
I believe that one should pay for each product or service he gets. Yet, you could find free audio books mostly by signing up for the free trials most of the online audio book services give you.
2. What is better - Audio books rental or audio books buying?
I personally prefer audio books rental. Mostly because of the price - I read a lot of audio books and it will simply cost too much to buy them all. However, audio books that I really like, Ones that I want to listen to time after time, I buy and keep them on my audio books library.
Yet, I have friends who are more possessive - they are not willing to rent audio books and they must hold a remarkable huge audio book library.
3. What do you suggest - downloadable audio books, audio books on CD or books on tape?
Well, that's a tough question. Basically, I believe that the most worthy audio books format nowadays is downloadable audio books. You must own a media player (e.g. Ipod) to listen to it. Yet, it costs less than the others and has a better quality.
However, the widest collection of audio books could be found on the audio books on CD format. If you want to listen to old books you will find them only on CDs.
I do not recommend getting books on tape (also known as audio books on cassettes). They are expensive, low quality and not user friendly.
4. When can I read audio books?
The answer is - Anytime and anywhere. Here are a few examples: While cooking, cleaning the house, exercising, running, walking, driving, flying, before going to sleep, commuting, working etc.
5. Are audio books expensive?
Audio books are not expensive at all. In fact, Downloadable audio books are very cheap - they cost much less than real books and renting them is the most worthy deal. Audio books on CD cost about the same as real books and books on tape are the most expensive ones.

Customer Review: Mastercook
works just as well as the 4.0 version but found some of the directions incomplete and confusing (ie. printing out a cookbook). And I'm unable to find out how to print more than one recipe on one page.
Customer Review: Don't get download version!
I got the download version 3 months ago, and have only just found out through an online discussion forum that all the problems I'm having using it are due to inherent defects in the download version. Apparently those who buy the CD will not experience these same issues (I don't know for certain though). Basically, the downloadable version functions more like a demo version; some features like export and import are limited or don't work at all (you can get recipes in one at a time, but can't select multiple recipes like the instructions tell you you can). A friend of mine and I have both had the same problems (we both bought it at the same time to swap recipes). Tech support is completely useless for these problems and customer service just keeps telling me to re-download it rather than deal with the problem of defective software (I would like them to just send the CD version that works).
I'm really disappointed, as it seems this could be nice software IF IT WORKED RIGHT.
So, if you're going to purchase this and are deciding between the download and CD version, get the CD. You'll have to wait a few extra days for delivery, but will avoid all the aggravation of the download version's bugs. They shouldn't even offer the download version, because it doesn't work right at all.
It's also worth noting that this software is not really very user-friendly for the beginner. Once you play with it a while, it has some nice features (buggy ones notwithstanding), such as being able to embed recipes (i.e., want to write a pie recipe? You can insert an ingredient as "Pie crust" and link to your pie crust recipe without typing it all out twice) but there is a steep learning curve. If you're adventurous and willing to randomly click ambiguous icons, you'll figure it out, but if you're someone who needs blatant, step-by-step instructions with really obvious menu options in software, you might struggle with this one.
However, even if you get nothing else out of it, the included recipes are worth the price of the software; you'd spend far more than that buying recipe books to get that many recipes. So at least I don't feel like I completely threw my money away getting defective software if I can't get it replaced with a functional version.
The Passion of the Christ
The Passion of the Christ
The Passion of the Christ focuses on the last twelve hours of Jesus of Nazareth's life. The film begins in the Garden of Olives where Jesus has gone to pray after the Last Supper. Jesus must resist the temptations of Satan. Betrayed by Judas Iscariot, Jesus is then arrested and taken within the city walls of Jerusalem where leaders of the Pharisees confront him with accusations of blasphemy and his trial results in a condemnation to death.
Customer Review: AWSOME!
I think Mel did a great job!
This is how they treated him...this is what he had to do for us....
this is how much he loved us. Everyone in the audience applauded in the resurrection scene, ths stone rolled back and he walked out.
Everybody that saw this movie should shout & praise..
"JESUS, the messiah, king of kings..the alpha and omega"
Customer Review: YES, IT IS A DEVESTATING EXPERIENCE
THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST is perhaps the most talked about movie in the history of film. Other films have been condemned, discussed, dissected and more. But this film has received more anger ridden controversy than the last movie about Christ to do so, THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST. And is the controversy worth noting? Perhaps. But some of it is nothing more than the rants of people who never saw the film. The film does deserve to be seen and discussed.
For anyone living in a cave over the past few years, the movie focuses on the last day in the life of Jesus Christ (Jim Caviezel). It opens with his praying on his last night in the garden and moves quickly forward to his betrayal by Judas and subsequent torture and persecution by anyone with power at the time.
A sect of Jews led by Caiphas found Jesus to be a threat to their power base. In response, they set out to have him destroyed. More than destroying his following, they actually wanted him wiped off of the face of the Earth. And they set out to do so. This has caused some to consider the film anti-Semitic. The fact of the matter was there were two choices of the people involved to crucify Christ at that time: the Jewish leaders or the Roman leaders. History has shown that it was the Jewish leaders that called for his demise. Plus the fact is that Jesus himself was a Jew. It is not anti-Semitic to state this. It is merely history. And for those who believe, there was no other option for those leaders if God's plan was to be followed through.
The movie proceeds to show the physical persecution of Jesus from there forward. When he is arrested and transported to the temple, he is beaten with the chains that bind him. When he is in the temple and accused, he is beaten by the mob. All of this is disturbing in its own right. But things get progressively worse.
Taken to Pilate so that he might put Jesus to death, Pilate opts for the political ploy of sending him to Herod, the king of Jesus land of birth, to judge him. Herod sends him back. Pilate caves but not completely, ordering Jesus to be punished but not put to death. And this is where the truly brutal point of the film begins.
Jesus is taken to the guards for scourging. For those who do not know, this is when Jesus was beaten. Many times we have heard about Jesus being whipped, lashed or beaten. But never has it been this graphically portrayed. The guards taunt Jesus and are presented as sadistic oafs. They begin with reed like canes and when that doesn't offer enough damage, when Jesus continues to rise, they switch to a cat-o-nine tails type whip, tipped with pieces of glass. These cut into Jesus' flesh, ripping him apart like so much meat. When finished, the stones surrounding Jesus are covered in blood.
Throughout the grueling punishment that Jesus receives, his mother Mary is witness. She sees the torturous treatment that her son receives. She sees the pain and anguish he is going through. And she conveys on her face the pain that she is suffering along with him.
Near death, Jesus is once again taken to Pilate. Still unwilling to condemn this man to death, he turns the matter over to the people who call out for his demise. Broken and bloodied, Jesus is forced to carry his own cross to be crucified on. Shredded beyond belief, he does so, faltering several times along the way, at one point requiring assistance.
The final act of the film offers perhaps the most realistic glimpse of what those who were crucified had to endure. It is painful to watch. Director Mel Gibson never lets go of the viewer's throat, forcing you to witness the pain that Jesus, Gibson's representation of God on Earth, went through. And it leaves you wasted by the film's end.
There is no way that a person of faith, a person who believes in God and Jesus can walk away from this film untouched. The images are seared into your mind. Although I do not attend church, I believe in God and Jesus. And as I watched, beginning with the scourging, I found myself crying. Sure I had heard that people were doing this. I was prepared to control myself while watching. But as the film progressed, I cried several times, unable to stop and never feeling ashamed of it. This movie can affect you as strongly as this.
From a technical standpoint, the movie is very well made. The photography is well done, the story told plainly and simply and the direction done so as to not make you notice. It was Gibson's passion with his belief in Christ that made this film a reality. He has taken much heat from the Hollywood community for bringing his vision to life. It has been said that he may never work in Hollywood again. If that were possible, it would be their loss, not his.
The movie opened big, making more money than anyone could ever have expected by a movie of this sort of topic. It caused more discussion of religion and belief than any movie that I can ever recall. And perhaps, even though he has suffered the slings and arrows of an impartial press and industry, perhaps it was worth it. Because at the end of the day, Gibson was able to make people think once again about God. And that is an accomplishment in itself.
I highly recommend that everyone see this film. It will touch you no matter what you believe. If it doesn't, then you have no feelings inside.

How eBooks Can Be Used As An Online Business by: Andy George
Times are hard today! Though the economic data would indicate otherwise, we are now facing a world economic problem of such massive problems that could result in a large economic downturn. In many countries we have massive property bubble that is just waiting to burst and the recent large increases in the price of crude oil are certainly not going to help inflation and if sustained will lead to interest rises that will have a devastating effect on the world economy. This will mean a lot of people will find themselves out of a job whereas many others will struggle to make a living.
The aim of this article is to propose an online business that requires very little capital that can if carried out properly be used to supplement the income of a person or if an even bigger effort is made could turn out to be a business that can itself make a living for an individual. This business is an online e-bookstore. It should be stressed that this business is not a scam since it involves the sale of information to customers for in many cases at a reasonable price. There is also an advantage of selling eBooks over traditional books in that they are kind to the environment and are seeing an increase in their market share at the expense of the traditional book.
The type of information that could be sold varies from: eBooks on diets, nutrition, health, sports & recreation, fun &n entertainment and many other areas of interest.
Many people could say that to set up such a business takes time and effort. However there is one product available on the market that has done all work and for which the capital cost is insignificant for a ready-made business. Details concerning this business can be obtained from http://www.easy4tune.com. All any individual acquiring this business can do to make money is to market the bookstore so that customers buy eBooks from the store. Any sales will result in commissions being received by the storeowner. The commissions could be as high as 75% though many eBooks offer a commission of 50%. The great thing about this business is that all the administration concerning sales is automated. If one is not convinced about this business opportunity I suggest one enrols a free ecourse that explains 15 ways the bookstore can make money for its owner. Details of this can be obtained on http://www.easy4tune.com/15ways
To conclude the world is going through a tough time and only the dynamic individuals who grasp opportunities presented to them will prosper.

Customer Review: Works great as a network attached drive
I've been using this drive for over a month now and haven't had any problems with it since I uninstalled MioNet and the Retrospect back up program it came with.
I mainly bought this drive for archive and backup purposes and as long as you don't install the software that comes with the drive, it works great. It was unusable with MioNet installed on my PC. About 50% of the time the drive could not be found or was off line. Retrospect is just as bad, it's problems (no space left on drive, can't find backup set, unable to perform backup and others)may be caused by MioNet. I would have rated this drive five stars if MioNet and Retrospect were usable.
After I uninstalled MioNet and Retrospect, the drive works flawlessly and I haven't had any problems. It may not be the fastest drive on the planet, but I can stream a 640x480 MP4 video from the drive to my laptop.
A nice feature on this drive is you can plug in another 500GB USB drive to add to your storage capacity as you need it. I'm not sure that it will do RAID however.
I found Western Digital support pretty good. I had a few questions and they answered each within a day.
If you want a network attached storage device, this one will work as long as you don't install MioNet.
Customer Review: I Should Have Known...
Messed with this drive for a week trying to get it to work properly over wireless 'N' with XP and MacOS machines. All machines could read but writing was an issue for one of the XP boxes for some reason. Loaded up 50GB then the drive quit.
Bottom Line:
- Little or no documentation - you gotta' rely on forums;
- It's very slow over wireless;
- Would 'quit' in the middle of large write jobs - over 1GB;
- I'm stuck with it after the failure (WD will send me a replacement)
- As mentioned, whatever you do, don't install MioNet

Customer Review: Great Buy!!
I bought this for my 4 year old son's birthday. He is a total star wars fanatic. I was hesitant to buy this because I thought it would break easily because he is so ruff with his toys. That totally wasn't the case. The toy is very durable. The only thing that seems sort of flimsy is the cockpit door but if it comes off it snaps right back on. This is a great toy for all ages. The toy is well worth what I paid for it!
Customer Review: Awesome toy!
My 11 year old son loves this toy. It is durable enough to stand up to his constant use and crashes. If you can buy the Anakin Skywalker Saga Legends action figure it fits nicely in the cockpit. My son says that "anyone who likes Star Wars should buy this ship."

- Little or no documentation - you gotta' rely on forums;
- It's very slow over wireless;
- Would 'quit' in the middle of large write jobs - over 1GB;
- I'm stuck with it after the failure (WD will send me a replacement)
- As mentioned, whatever you do, don't install MioNet

Some assembly required. Vehicle comes with labels and instructions.

A Featured books for children ArticleChoose the Right Format for Your Ebooks
Choose the Right Format for Your Ebooks by: Tim Coulter
Choosing the right file format for your ebook is an essential step on the road to electronic self-publishing. This article looks at the factors affecting your choice and offers tips to help you make the most of your ebook, whatever format you choose.
The format of an ebook determines the nature of the digital package in which it is distributed. During the short history of the ebook, various new formats have been developed and others may evolve in the future. But, as with any maturing technology, a point will probably be reached where one or two formats dominate, to the exclusion of all others. Fortunately, it is becoming increasingly easy to re-package existing content in alternative formats, so there is now less risk associated with making an early commitment to a particular format, even if it ultimately fails the test of time.
The important considerations when choosing an ebook format are:
- Compatibility with the platform used by the target audience
- Ease of installation and use by your readers
- The ability to support any special features required by the intended content
All common ebook formats now support flexible text formatting and page layout, embedded graphics, hyperlinks and convenient navigation.
The two formats most commonly used by independent ebook authors are PDF and HTML (also known as EXE format). They are favored for their ease of creation and widespread acceptance by the ebook community. Although other formats exist (MS Reader, Adobe ebook and Palm Doc etc), they typically entail more complex compilation procedures and include features more applicable to mass publishing.
The PDF format, developed by Adobe Systems Inc, can be viewed on Windows and Unix systems, as well Macs and even handheld computers. An ebook in PDF format is viewed using the free, downloadable Adobe Reader software.
Although a specific version of the Adobe Reader application is required by each target platform, a single common PDF file format is applicable to all users, regardless of their platform. This cross-platform compatibility is probably the single most important factor in the huge popularity of PDF as a publishing format. Over 500 million computer users are currently equipped to read PDF documents.
A PDF ebook can contain thousands of pages and the inbuilt hierarchical navigation system (known as bookmarks) makes it as easy to find a particular chapter or page as in a printed book. For this and other reasons, the PDF format is generally the professional's choice.
HTML ebooks are created by combining a set of HTML pages (i.e. web pages) into a single file. The resultant ebook can only be viewed on Windows computers, but since the majority of buyers fall in this group, most marketers do not consider this a major limitation. Unlike PDF (and other formats), HTML ebooks do not require any additional pre-installed software to read them. Most variants are dependent on Internet Explorer, but since this is installed automatically with Windows, the issue is of no consequence to most users.
A common feature of many HTML ebooks is the ability to customize certain pre-defined aspects of their content, even after creation and distribution. This is known as re-branding. It is very popular among online marketers, particular those producing promotional ebooks, because it enables the ebook medium to be used as a viral affiliate marketing tool.
On the downside, the need for multiple content files means that HTML ebooks are more cumbersome to create, making the format less well-suited to large authoring projects. Also, since HTML ebooks are directly executable by Windows, they are a potential source of computer viruses. Although there have been few incidents of virus problems originating from the ebook industry, the ever-present threat means that some prospective readers are wary of downloading ebooks in this format.

Customer Review: The best out there, but has flaws
If there ever was a Haynes guide for a vehicle I own, I got it! I have seen the others from factory shop manuals, Chilton's, etc and they just don't match up.
I have a 2002 Dakota Quad Cab. There are two years before me and one year after me. I feel that the revisions to later model years isn't handled very well. I don't think that it justifies an entire separate manual, but it would be better if alternate diagrams/instructions were there for the later years.
In all, it didn't keep me from getting the jobs done. I would still get this manual over all others for this truck.

Magic
Magic, Bruce Springsteen's new studio recording and his first with the E Street Band in five years, is set for release by Columbia records on October 2, 2007. Produced and mixed by Brendan O'Brien, the album features eleven new Springsteen songs and was recorded at southern tracks recording studio in Atlanta, Ga.
Customer Review: Not the old Springsteen "magic"
I have been a Bruce Springsteen fan for more than 20 years and own most of his music. I saw him in 1985 during the Born in the USA tour and consider that show to be the best live concert I've ever attended.
I pre-ordered Magic based on comments by Springsteen's manager that this album echoed the Boss's work of the 1970's. Having listened through the album several times, I do not agree with that assessment. I agree with many others that some of the lyrics are hard to understand. For a person like Springsteen who has something to say about life in our times, I think the words matter. Many of the songs aim for the good-time feel of some of Springsteen's earlier work with the obligatory Clarence Clemon's solos and fine keyboard work by Roy Bittan, but they don't have much to say.
The highlights for me are the buoyant "Livin' in the Future" and the wry cover song "Magic," both subtle damnations of the policies of the "Current Occupant." I admire Springsteen for putting his reputation and career on the line to say what needs to be said in this day and age of people who will crucify you for speaking against those currently in power. But he should have made sure the final mix of the songs put those words out front.
I wanted to like this album. Despite repeated listens, I can't get very excited about it as a whole, although I do really like a couple of the songs.
Customer Review: Magic
Bruce Springsteen & The E. Street Band-Magic *****
When you get right down to it, the bare basic rock n' roll, strip all the country leanings, the ol' dixie influence of albums past, the self-indulgent pop that went against everything you set out to do, and you have Magic, Springsteens most honest and true to form albums in years. Magic might be the very best album Springsteen ever released, rivaling that of even U.S.A., Darkness On The Edge Of Town, and even the legendary Born To Run. While it might not be as theme concious as those albums it does do something remarkable. Magic is a career spanning album, it has something from all that fasits of his career. Lour Arena rockers, Politicaly charged anthems, country hinged melodys, Bob Dylan meets Jack Kerouack lyrics, and a backing of one of Americas greatest rock bands, The E. Street Band.
Opening with one of their all time greatest songs, 'Radio Nowhere' comes across as a plea by way of a neutron bomb. Homming some of his best lyrics and some of the E. Street Bands best grooves. 'You'll Be Coming Down' is what they wish they would have accomplished with The Rising.'Livin' In The Future' would have fit perfectly with The River, and gives vision to what everyone wishes they could say sometimes, "We're living in the future, and none of this has happened yet." 'Girls In Their Summer Clothes' is one of the best songs the band has ever recorded reminding us of early Springsteen. 'Last To Die' is easily the best anti-war-in-Iraq song to ever come along. While the 'Long Walk Home' may just be the best to come along in the last ten years from anyone, one that truly has to be heard to fully appreciate.
Magic is the album we have all been waiting for, one that we almost got with The Rising, but just came up short. Magic is easily the best Springsteen album since U.S.A., and maybe of their entire career.

Customer Review: Great guide and is in-depth
If you're like me, then you like Dan Birlew and the BradyGAMES Signature Series guides. These guides are very in-depth and after the Devil May Cry guide got this off to a great start, the Onimusha 2 guide keeps it going. I'll give you tons of reason why this is the best Strategy Guide (in my opinion) then any other Onimusha guide out there.
First of all, like any guide (or hopefully any guide), there is the walkthrough. This walkthrough is very in-depth with ultra detailed maps that pin-point every item! The walkthough is precise and quite possibly one of the most in-depth organized walkthrough from BradyGAMES to date. The author does a great job explaining the strategies, and talks about the better approach for Offensive and defensive battle tatics against bosses.
The game basics section is for me especially. If you don't feel you get enough explanation on attacks etc. from the instruction booklet (like me) then the game basics section does a great job on explaining just how to get critical hits, when is best to attack and when its best to just haul you butt out of there.
There is also a list included for trading items. The only gripe I have with this list (and the guide) is that this trading list isn't in alphabetical order, meaning you'll be reading up and down the list just to find if the item is worth trading to another. But they do explain how to trade and tell you what you'll get too!
The alliances to form are listed in the back of the book in a flowchart. This shows you just what path to take! But it also explains just how you should form alliances as well. They tell you what the benefits are as well.
The secrets and sidequests and telling you how to use each character (combos and everything are explained). The side quest are brillantly outlined and easy to use. They tell you who gets what too. The secrets also explain a lot about the different difficulty levels and the Man in Black mini game.
Lastly, the guide completely covers the Oni mini game with a tear out wall scroll to go along with it. This is a great guide and if you're going to get Onimusha 2 then you should definitely get this book!
On the Positive side:
+Great Maps!
+Great Strategies!
+Crystal Clear screens with helpful captions
+Hey! Its Signature series
+Tricks of Trade revealed
+Side Quests explained
+Both mini-games explained
+Game Basics actually help you learn the game better then the manual.
+Interview with Keiji Inafune!
But on the downside
-The trading items list is out of order
-Some boss strategies are a little too focused on defense

Customer Review: Pretty much useless
I think I must have read at least 3 of the books in a set (spend a chunk of my Caribbean vacation on reading those). I read very thouroughly but when it came to taking a practice test from Testking.com, I could not answer any sample questions at all. Also when reading the questions and trying to find an answer using one of the books in this set, I couldn't because a lot of important concepts are simply not there (for example Web Farms).
The first exam I took was 70-305. I passed it the first time with a pretty high score. The book I used to pass and highly recommend is MCAD/MCSD Training Guide (70-305): Developing and Implementing Web Applications with Visual Basic.NET and Visual Studio.NET (Training Guide) by Mike Gunderloy. You can get a used one for under $20. It's worth every cent. Also I would like to recommentd to pair it up with sample questions from Testking.com.

Observation shows that human creative activity has a physical, a social and a spiritual aspect. (By human creative activity I mean useful and constructive activity by human beings). The physical aspect of our creative activity concerns our activity in relation to the physical universe. The social aspect relates mainly to human behaviour and interaction amongst humans. The spiritual aspect of our creative activity primarily concerns our activity in relation to God. Over time, mankind has acquired considerable knowledge of the physical universe. This knowledge has been classified as the physical and natural sciences. Knowledge we have acquired of human behaviour and interaction amongst humans has been classified as social science. This has not been the case with knowledge we have of the spiritual aspect of life. Such knowledge has not been classified as spiritual science. This is so because much of what at present constitute spiritual facts and beliefs cannot be considered as science. A lot of such facts are not backed by proof and many of the beliefs are not founded on reason. Unverifiable conjectures about phenomena and existence beyond this life are professed as truths. The situation at present is such that spiritual works available to us contain fiction, misconceptions, superstition and falsehood in addition to actual facts. I will use some examples from the Christian teaching and Holy Bible to illustrate this point.
Consider the Bible account of the creation of Man and his fall from grace, (the Bible, Genesis 2:7-24 3:1-24).
We are told that God created Adam and Eve and established them in the Garden of Eden where He had made adequate provisions for their needs. All went well until the serpent came along and deceived them into disobeying God. The act of disobedience in the Garden of Eden caused Adam and Eve to lose favour with God. Christians believe that the sinfulness of Adam and Eve subsequently passed on to all generations of mankind. That, in their thinking, is responsible for mankind's fall from grace and the human proneness to commit sin. The Christian concept of original sin which is that sinfulness is a part of mankind's nature is founded on this Bible story.
Now let us examine this Bible account rationally. It has been scientifically established that mankind has inhabited the earth for over a million years. The coming into existence of the human being is, therefore, a primeval event that is prehistoric and immemorial. Surely, any account of this even cannot be anything but an invention. Moreover, the incidents related in this Bible story are inconsistent with natural phenomena. God does not talk. Snakes do not have the faculty of speech. Knowledge is not gained by eating the fruit of a tree, neither is it possible to attain everlasting life in this way. This tale, by all indications, is only a Jewish fable. It is not a true account of real events. However, Christianity accepts it as a factual historical event and has built its all-important concept of original sin on it. Clearly, this is a case of fiction being passed for fact.
Let us go on to consider the concepts of heaven and hell as propagated by the Christian faith. Heaven, we are told, is the home of God where people who do God's will on earth will spend eternity with Him in bliss. Hell, on the other hand, is the place of punishment where those who lived sinful lives will suffer everlasting torment after death.
Now let us think seriously about these issues. God does not have physical substance, God is spirit. Because spirit has no physical limitations, God is everywhere at all times. In other words, God has infinite presence. Since God is infinite in expanse, so to speak, it does not make sense to say that God has a particular place of residence. The concept of home is a physical concept which has no application in the spiritual realm. Reason clearly shows that heaven, in actual fact, does not exist.
And to the question of hell. Forgiveness is a cardinal moral principle of the Christian faith. Jesus Christ in his teachings stated unequivocally that we should always forgive others no matter how many times they offend us. If one desires to commune with God, one must have a forgiving heart, he taught. How then can we think of God as being so unforgiving as to establish a place of everlasting torment for those who go against His will. The very idea of hell implies that God is wicked and unchristian. It is, without doubt, a misconception to associate God who is infinitely good with such a cruel idea. In reality, heaven and hell are misconceptions that have passed for spiritual facts.
Let us now consider superstition in the Bible. The gospel tells us about a father who brought his epileptic son to Jesus Christ for healing, (Luke 9:37-43). The account says that Jesus rebuked the demon in the boy. It came out of him and the boy was instantly cured.
Let us examine this report in the light of our knowledge of medical science. Epilepsy is a nervous disease and we know from medical science that demons are not responsible for illness. There is actually no proof that evil spirits exist. The belief in their existence and that they are responsible for ailments is irrational. Such belief amounts to superstition.
And now to the matter of falsehood in the Bible. We shall examine the Bible account of the conception of Jesus Christ by the Holy Ghost and the reports of his resurrection and ascension.
Knowledge is usually brought to mankind through people of high intelligence. In some cases such people are gifted with extra-ordinary mental or creative 666bilities. People like this, referred to as men of genius, very often take us to new levels in knowledge of the universe. One such person was the mathematical genius, Albert Einstein, who brought us exciting new knowledge of the physical universe. Jesus Christ belonged to this class of people. He was a luminary who made revolutionary contributions to spiritual knowledge. Unfortunately, the Jewish educated class of his time did not understand or accept him. That probably explains why he chose his disciples from amongst the uneducated, fishermen and the like. These followers, who obviously were not men of high intelligence, did not recognize him for what he was which was simply a man of extra-ordinary mental abilities and l! earning. His remarkable accomplishments were, rather, what made profound impressions on them. It is reported that he healed all manner of sickness, raised the dead, and fed thousands of people with few loaves and pieces of fish. We are told that he walked on water, waves became still at his command and a fig tree that he cursed withered. They (his followers) were awed by these incidents and began to perceive him as a deity. Jesus Christ noticed this idolization and at the end of one of his sermons said to his followers and the crowd present, (Luke 6: 46-49).
Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord' and not do what I tell you? Every one who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like, he is like a man building a house, who dug deep, and laid the foundation upon rock and when the flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it has been well built. But he who hears and does not do them is ike a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation against which the stream broke, and immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.
Jesus Christ was clearly not happy that he was being idolized while little attention was paid to his message. He was just a genius who had used his extra-ordinary talent to gain profound spiritual knowledge. His primary concern was to impart this knowledge to others. His desire was for people to listen, learn and practice what he was teaching them.
After his death, however, his followers who did not fully understand him or his work declared him deity. To lend credence to this claim, they presented us with the story of his conception by the Holy Ghost and the tales of his resurrection and ascension.
Let us now subject these things to logical reasoning. Spirit does not have physical substance. A thing that does not have physical substance cannot be divided, reproduced, split or apportioned into two or more separate and different units. Spirit, therefore, cannot exist in the form of separate and individual entities. This means that you cannot have one spirit called, say, Michael, separate and different from another spirit called, say, Gabriel, separate and different from another one called, say, Satan, etc. Existence in this form is a physical phenomenon that does not occur in the spiritual realm. It logically follows that there can be only one spirit in existence. That spirit is God. Clearly, no Holy Ghost exists and Mary the mother of Jesus was not made pregnant by any such spirit.
Let me add at this point that the human being does not have a spirit or soul. Our mind, which creates the illusion of a spirit in our body, is actually a mechanism of the brain by which we perceive and experience spiritual as well as physical phenomena.
Logical reasoning has shown that there can be only one spirit in existence and also that heaven does not exist. Going by these conclusions, the tales of the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ do not make sense. If there can be only one spirit in existence, what then did Jesus Christ become after he resurrected? If heaven does not exist, where then did he ascend to? The claims of a resurrection and an ascension are inconsistent with logically established spiritual realities.
The Bible account of the conception of Jesus Christ by the Holy Ghost and the reports of his resurrection and ascension are definitely falsehood.
The occurrence of untruths, conjectures and fallacies in current spiritual teachings is not peculiar to the Christian faith. I have found a high incidence of this flaw in other spiritual works and teachings that I have come in contact with. I am, however, hopeful that my spiritual works will help clarify matters and also enable mankind to gain full spiritual enlightenment.
My spiritual knowledge was obtained by study and experimentation with spiritual facts and principles, by observation of spiritual phenomena, and by logical reasoning. It qualifies for classification as science. The knowledge I bring I therefore present as a branch of learning I have called Spiritual Science. The aim and scope of Spiritual Science are to provide such spiritual knowledge of existence as will enable mankind gain complete happiness and success in life.
God has endowed me with extra-ordinary mental abilities. It is by His grace that I have gained full spiritual knowledge of existence. I recognize my moral obligation to share this knowledge with others and help others gain full spiritual enlightenment. I have a duty to work for the spiritual enlightentment of mankind. It is my fervent hope that you will maintain an open mind and try to comprehend the spiritual knowledge which I bring to you. Being fully enlightened spiritually will enable you to live your life the right way. When you live the right way you will undoubtedly find complete joy and success in life. May the grace of the Almighty God be with you always.

Schoolhouse Rock!: Grammar Rock (Animated)
There are two types of Schoolhouse Rock fans. Type A: those who--inspired in the '70s and '80s by "Conjunction Junction" and "Interjections!"--went on to become grammar gurus, copyeditors, and computational linguists. And type B: those who--less inspired by grammar than by catchy refrains--can still sing lines that today sound less than P.C.:
Though Geraldine played hard to get (uh huh),
Geraldo knew he'd woo her yet.
He showed his affection,
Despite her objection,
And Geraldine hollered some interjections!
(Geraldo, if you'll recall, is a goat.) No matter. Both kinds of fans will enjoy revisiting these Saturday-morning shorts--and hopefully this video will find its way into classrooms, to boot. Clever teachers who grew up on this stuff will know how to make Schoolhouse Rock fans (ideally of type A) out of the next generation, too.

Customer Review: Great Refresher for Adults
I work with many adult college students who do not remember basic grammar. I often recommend they buy this for a quick, basic grammar review. It sounds silly when I first say it, but this is a fun and memorable way to understand grammar. Many students report watching it with their children. It's also very helpful for ESL students.
Customer Review: Schoolhouse Rock! Grammar Rock
Here's a quick fix or review for those children struggling with understanding grammar. Because of the easy tunes and rhyming lyrics, children will quickly remember the correct ways to use nouns, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, verbs, subjects, and predicates. Because of the age of the product, it has inherent problems. Grammar usage rules have changed over the years, so children may pick up some weak or incorrect ideas on usage. Although many of us remember "Conjunction Junction" with great delight, children need to recognize the new list of conjunctions. The video tends to stress passive writing over active writing. Bits of the language in the "Adjective" song allow kids to belittle or mock others. But the joy of learning through music--even with dated lyrics--allows for a meeting ground where parents can add to the learning process.

Schoolhouse Rock!: Grammar Rock (Animated)
